In the Balance: Art for a changing World
The exhibition ‘In the Balance: Art for a changing World’ that was held in MCA has done something very special and came up with interesting themes which has presented more than 100 works by 30 artists, and artist collectives and their responses to environmental issues in Australia and internationally. The way that MCA had provided an open space to the audience to discuss and communicate with the artist about the issues of ecological problem , not only through the gallery but through the internet and artist blogs. As the world is now communicating through the internet, it became easier to communicate and share what people think, make comments and awareness of the issues. However, even if the blog and internet allows wide range of debate, somehow I think of the other way, which I think that the computer is the debater and act as a bridge between people’s opinion around the world, not as a human. It is the internet that makes communication easier in literally, and now the dialogue conversation is becoming less important in real life. Does the blog or internet help to encompass people’s opinion, despite the fact that may be the one’s opinion is not made from own view? Is it truthful enough to be collective material especially when it comes to a debate like what MCA did it for ‘In the Balance: Art for a changing World’?
