concatenation

So Raunig (following earlier ideas) believes that art and politics are closely intertwined.

So art cannot be completely separate from politics, and politics cannot exist without triggering some sort of artistic response.

In regards to the PublixTheatreCaravan, Raunig is concerned with ideas on ethics and equality. The idea of creating amateur theater without any hierarchy or leader seems like a good idea in terms of equality, however, i wonder how it worked? Living in a society built upon a foundation of systems of leaders and sub-leaders, workers etc, i am a bit skeptical of how this system could work?

  1. be careful with your reading. art and politics are completely separate, the art machine and the political machine are different plains. However they come together through the concatenation, cross paths, inform each other (even change each other), overlap etc etc. But in raunig's reading they are not the same

  2. saying art and politics are 'completely seperate' seems a bit... untrue. i agree they aren't the same thing, but gemma's post never actually said that... it said the two are closely intertwined, and in the case of directly political artworks, i cant see how someone could disagree.

  3. The post states Raunig says, not Gemma. Gemma can say what she wishes, but when one says someone else says, that is when one needs to be careful.
We will flesh out your critique in class Luke
