So YES, without this ability to access technology and the ability to disseminate creative work, we wouldn't have these songs and we would not even be having this discussion.

My personal problem is, I guess, that as more people have more access to producing creative works, the more we will have to sift through the "long tail" of this production to find what we like.

An interesting read on this subject The Cult of the Amateur: How Today's Internet is Killing Our Culture which at times is a bit preachy, but hell it has some interesting stuff about social relations and the Internet community in general.

  1. you cant have it both ways - access for all (and a bunch of lame stuff cos everyone has the right to have their say) or access for the chosen few (and a bunch of special stuff from the white middle class)
